Last eclipse of 2011: Know the dos and don’ts

This year's last eclipse, lunar eclipse, will occur on December 10 Saturday. According to astrologers, this eclipse will have an impact on all the sun signs.
As this eclipse will be visible across India, astrologers advice people against taking bath, donating things or giving alms, conducting puja during inauspicious time. They say people should follow the eclipse time and the inauspicious time.
They say that people should take bath, donate or conduct puja only after the eclipse ends.
WHAT TO DO?
The sutak kaal (inauspicious time) begins 9 hours before a solar eclipse and 12 hour before a lunar eclipse. A person should avoid eating food, sleeping or indulging in any materialistic pleasures during this time.
Only children, old people or ill people can have food during this time. People with unfavourable position of moon in their horoscope should avoid seeing the moon during this time.
MANTRA
Chant the following mantra during the eclipse:
shramshrimshrom sah somay namah
WHAT HAPPENS DURING SUTAK KAAL?
The ill effects of the lunar eclipse begin during the sutak kaal. It is scientifically known fact that the sun and moon emit harmful ultraviolet rays hours before any eclipse. This is why our ancestors have set strict norms to be followed during this time.
