Swami Agnivesh hasn't paid house rent for 20 years!

Social activist Swami Agnivesh has not been paying house rent for his expensive bungalow in the posh Lutyen's zone in the city in the last 20 years, said the bungalow owner on Tuesday.
Bungalow owner Viresh Pratap Chowdhury, who is managing trustee at Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Trust (SVBPT), said that he lodged complaints in this regard with New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) and other offices but didn't get any response.
The bungalow is situated on 7, Jantar Mantar Road here.

Aginivesh's Facebook account and his website too show the same Lutyens Delhi address. SVBPT has divided the bungalow and rented the divided parts.
According to a report published in an English daily, ex-Prime Minister Chandrashekhar had asked Chowdhury to give his bungalow on rent for some days to Swami Agniwesh. But Chowdhury said that Agnivesh never left the bungalow saying "Sadhu log jahan jate hain wahin bas jate hain."

Swami's decade-old friend Swami Aryavesh also confirmed reports about Agnivesh not paying the rent. But he said that "Bandhua Mukti Morcha", the NGO of Swami Agnivesh has been paying the electricity, water and maintenance bills.
