IIT-Delhi boy 'signs up' with Facebook for R 65 lakh a year

This is what you can truly call a ‘status update’.
A 21-year-old student from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-D) has been hired by Facebook for a whopping annual salary of Rs 65 lakh, say media reports.
Ankur Dahiya, a computer science student, became the first from his institute to be roped in as an employee by the social networking website. The Mark Zuckerberg-owned company had earlier hired a student from IIT Chennai.
Dahiya, who reportedly said he wanted to “get in” ever since he heard Facebook would come to recruit, will start working as a programmer in Palo Alto, California after he finishes his course in 2012.
Students from the prestigious IITs are known to stay in news as much for their innovative and technical prowess as for the colossal pay packages they command at the end of their stint as engineering students every year. Placement drives conducted by the institutes invariably attract some of the biggest companies- and the best paymasters- from all over the world.
