Women Bosses, How to Deal with Them?


Are you suffering from the nightmare of your dominating female boss who always points out your smallest mistakes?  If yes, then remember that an increasing stress at the workplace is actually turning them into bullies, reveals a new study conducted by the British Association of Anger Management.


The new study highlighted the fact that a majority of female bosses are in the habit of bullying their co-workers and subordinates. While it is said that most male bosses are linked with such kind of a conduct, the survey discovered that a fifth of female bosses admit to shouting or being verbally abusive at work. When things do not go accordingly, ten percent of women executives accept to blaming and shaming their co- workers. Nearly 90 percent of the female executives surveyed claimed that they had evidenced an increase in stress, more than 60 percent of the females in positions of power opined that the poor management was the cause of their resentment.


Speaking to PTI, Director of the Association, Mike Fisher said high-flying women are now encountering the psychological problems that have historically blighted the lives of men at the top. He said: "The main reason for an increase in anger is the inability to deal with stress.” Women tend to pay more attention to detail than men so they sweat over the small things. "They can be short-tempered and abrupt, and make underhanded critical remarks. It can be interpreted by colleagues as bullying." Listed below are the tips to handle such kind of bossy females.


1. Remain calm and quite: Demonstrate yourself as a cool person in front of your dominating boss and when she is mad at you, maintain a calm demeanor without interrupting her. Let all her grudges drain off, do remember to look straight without rolling your eyes, listen to her with patience and off course do not cry, while she is shouting at you.









2. Be specific about how to amend things: It is always advisable to be specific about fixing things after the passage of the storm. Do remember to repeat her concerns back to her including the solutions that can regulate the problems. Your female boss might expect you to be defensive or to react but keep your emotionalism at bay. Instead, suggest the right possible solution to the problem. If the problem is caused by a wicked co- worker, take her aside and in a steady low voice tell her about the problems caused by him. Reveal whatever you have to say regarding the issues and immediately walk away without giving her a chance to explain.


3. Note her likes, dislikes and preferences:It is very important to grasp the nature of your female boss, always note her likes, dislikes and preferences and only then you can do a good job. For example if she prefers the work report to be emailed than printed, do send it to her. If you work in accordance to her likes, she will definitely consider you in her good books. Analyze her properly by asking questions to yourself such as what is more important to her? Or what can be done to please her style of work without hurting your self-esteem.




4.Demonstrate yourself as a team builder:Never decline to portray your team building spirit in front of your female boss.  Team builders are always liked by the bosses as they help to motivate other employees in the workplace by being a good example for others. Try to embrace your boss’ ideas and suggestions and help your co- workers to create a friendly atmosphere within the organization. It is always said that a well targeted team building commences and develops relationships between the employees, so that together the team can achieve a great performance.


5. Establish yourself as trustworthy and reliable: Affirm your female boss that you are a trustworthy and a reliable person. Though trusting is something that female executives avoid in the male dominated workplace, still it can be re-infused with the right person.
