Sony Tablet P vs Apple iPad 2

Many people are comparing Sony Tablet P with Apple’s highest selling iPad 2. Everyone is unanimous that Sony tablet is really portable
Tablet manufacturers across the world are trying to come up with innovative ideas to attract people with deep pockets to buy a product that is mainly used at leisurely times. Some manufacturers have tried to make their tablets as useful as laptops with great specs, but so far it has not succeeded.
In fact those tablets are getting more appeal in the market besides of course Apple’s popular tablet iPad that are cheaper and come with readymade uses for their tablets. The case in point is that of Amazon Kindle tablet that has attracted a big chunk of cheap – but full of useful apps – market. Amazon has recently said that its average weekly sales of Kindle tablet has crossed one million unit mark.
But there are some out of box thinking when it comes to the designing of tablets by some smart manufacturers. Japanese technology giant Sony has come up with an innovative tablet PC called Sony Tablet P. Instead of using a 9.4”screen which is a traditional feature of the Tablet PC, P option brings with it two 5”screen.
The best thing about the latest Sony tablet is the fact that both screens can be adjusted to show the same content at 1024 x 960 or different items can be divided between the upper and lower parts. Tablet with a dual-screen features dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 chipset, paired with 1GB of RAM and two cameras. Sony has equipped the tablet computer with Android 3.2 operating system, but for now it is unknown whether and when the company plans to make the upgrade to the latest edition of Ice Cream Sandwich.
Many people are saying that the new tablet from Sony has the capability to take the tablet to the next stage. After folding the tablet, it just becomes 5 inch wide that gives it better portability and taking it out becomes as easy as taking a smart phone.
Sony Tablet P comes with a special version of Android for tablets, called Android 3.1 Honeycomb. The software is known for its smooth interface for tablets. When compared with iPad 2 that runs on the most recent version of iOS 5, it seems very competitive. But had it been launched on Ice Cream Sandwich, it would have given the tablet a better OS than iPad 2’s
Display wise, the Sony tablet P is the most innovative product launched in recent months in the market. Tablet P comes with two 5 inch touchscreen displays at the inner parts of its foldable panels. When thrown open it has a big 10-inch display. You can use one display as screen and the other one as a controlling unit while playing games and watching moves on he the tablet. Compared with Tablet P, iPad 2 comes with a rather great LED-backlit IPS widescreen multi-touch display with a resolution of 1024 x 768-pixels at 132 pixels per inch. On the other hand Sony tablet P’s dual 5.5-inch screens are supremely crisp, thanks to the sharp 1024 x 480p resolution
I would say that pricewise Sony Tablet P is on the higher side. Had it been priced a little more rationally, it would have got a better response from the market. A good 10 inch display in 5 inch packet is good packaging. Apple iPad2’s entry level price is $499 while for Sony Tablet P comes for $599. So this $100 difference is going to make a big difference with the price conscious consumers. But I am certain that it is going to be a big hit in Japan.
Apple’s iPad 2 comes up in three models based on built-in storage, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. Tablet P has only two memory options; 16GB and 32GB.
